Plenty of variety in our August walks and plenty of good weather too. We started with Liz’s route visiting the remains of the Cefn Coch gold mines above Ganllwyd. This was followed by Rita’s twice-postponed walk to the top of Moel Ysgyfarnogod – third time lucky! Another mountain walk, this time from Adrian and a bit further afield, climbing to the quiet top of Gallt y Wenallt near Beddgelert. Gill’s destination near Tywyn was the hill known as The Beacon, and the quarries beneath its summit. Despite its modest height of 178 metres, there was actually a bit of mist on the top! Just a couple of photos from Carol’s enjoyable walk near Trawsfynydd, visiting Dolddinas and Llyn Hiraethlyn. Next, Adrian’s second walk of the month explored two little-visited outlying ridges in the Arans, Pen yr Allt Uchaf and Pen yr Allt Isaf. The month was rounded off with a walk led by Alun to Craig y Dinas in the foothills of the Rhinogs.
